Oregon’s Deluxe Cabins in Woods

Picture this. After an unexpectedly chilly night spent sleeping on the hard, bumpy ground, you skip your morning shower (too cold!) only to get rained on from the sky while eating instant oatmeal, shivering in your gortex.

It’s car camping in the Northwest! And if you’ve had an overnight experience like this one, you might just prefer a roof over your head, even when you’re “roughing it.”

Oregon State Parks knows this well. That’s why they have so many darn cute cabins and yurts for rent all over the place. Terry Richard, the outdoors and travel writer at the Oregonian, just blogged about the new standard in camping cabins in Oregon State Parks: the deluxe cabin. In addition to the charms of the numerous standard rustic cabins, yurts and even teepees found throughout the state park system, deluxe cabins and yurts have indoor plumbing, often a kitchen with a microwave, and of course, a bathroom. There are six of them in all — two on the coast, three in central Oregon, and one huge cabin in the Wallowas.

And at $45 – $80 a night, these cute, comfy cabins will fit almost any traveler’s budget.
