A few New Years ago we rented a 5 bedroom house on the beach in the South Sound area, with a hot tub, for $200 a night, quite a bargain for four adults, three kids, and a dog! We were happy to cook for ourselves and had a great three day weekend. Last spring break we took another beach house, on Vashon, more of a cabin, for about $125 a night. I know of other families who have had excellent experiences with house-exchange sites, like www.homeexchange.com or www.homelink.com, though I have not gone that route myself. Yet.
